This is a bit about me and my journey thus far.

My name is Hunter J Baker. I am a multifaceted creative from Lexington, KY, & the current standing Creative Director and co founder of Los Angeles based luxury fashion house, Kaló Soil.

My professional career in photography, graphic design, styling, and creative direction began in 2019, while still in high school, alongside a small group of my fellow high school friends, I helped to create a streetwear brand by the name of, “Unxpectd.” After catching steam in the public eye during the rise of social media powerhouse, TikTok, myself and the rest of the Unxpectd team made the move from Lexington, Kentucky to Los Angeles, California.

After the 2020 move too, I spent a little over a year with the brand before stepping away to pursue work elsewhere. During this period of time, I began working on a series of solo projects in photo, video, graphic design, and clothing design. In tandem with these projects, I found work with various musicians under Republic and Atlantic Records creating album art, as well as lending my hand in photography and video works. This work under the record labels allowed me to get my foot in the door with some incredible musicians and eventually land a job as Creative Director for indie pop artist, Claire Rosinkranz.

In 2023, I stepped away from this job with Claire and Republic records and, alongside my business partner Ryan Sullivan, revealed my most recent project to the public. With the opening of “Kaló Soil,” likely my best work to date, I have worked as Owner and Creative Director alongside Sully (lead designer) and Dylan Holder (assistant designer) to capture visuals and advertising content for all garments created and sourced, design and built out multiple variations of the store’s interior as well as multiple art installations, create and a limited edition photo zine under Kaló Soil showcasing the brand’s first public release of Made-in-House garments, and all in all, I work to create a cohesive and captivating brand identity and experience in all facets of the store’s public image.

As this project with Kaló Soil continues to grow and flourish, I continue to freelance my creative work.

My career has truly just begun and I am more than excited for what is to come.

To whomever is taking the time to read this, God bless you,

Hunter J Baker
